Amy Johnson Crow introduced the 52 Ancestors in 52 Weeks challenge on her No Story Too Small blog in 2014. This year she continued the challenge, but also added a weekly theme. This week’s theme was “Half-way”. To determine which ancestor to use, I decided to find the ancestor born half-way between the current year of 2015, and the birth year of the earliest ancestor in my tree, who was born in 1480.
The year that was half-way was 1747, and the closest ancestor born to this date was Simeon Sell.
Simeon Sell was christened 16 April 1753 in Bassingbourn, Cambridgeshire, England. He was the son of Tempest Sell and Mary Leete.
On 4 June 1781 at Guilden Morden, Cambridgeshire, he married his cousin, Edith Leete.
Simeon and Edith had 7 children.

|7. Charles Sell, b. Bef 4 May 1795, d. Bef 6 Aug 1795, Bassingbourn, Cambridgeshire, England (Age ~ 0 years)|
Their son Tempest Sell was my ancestor – he was the father of my 2x great grandfather Alfred Docwra.
Simeon died 28 December 1822 at Bassingbourn, Cambridgeshire, and was buried in the St Peter & St Paul Churchyard on 4 January 1823. Simeon left a will: Will of Simeon Sell, farmer and farrier of Bassingbourn, Cambridgeshire 13 February 1823 PROB 11/1667. I haven’t yet obtained a copy of this will.
