Sunday Afternoon Genealogy Fun – The Day Your Grandfather Was Born

Each week on Randy Seaver’s Genea-musings blog he has a post for Saturday night Genealogy fun. Because of the time difference, I have called my series Sunday Afternoon Genealogy Fun. This week’s mission was:

1)  What day of the week was your Grandfather born (either one)? Tell us how you found out.

2) What has happened in recorded history on your Grandfather’s birth date (day and month)? Tell us how you found out, and list five events.

3)  What famous people have been born on your Grandfather’s birth date?  Tell us how you found out, and list five of them.

4)  Put your responses in your own blog post, in a comment on this blog post, or in a status or comment on Facebook.

1) I chose my paternal grandfather, John Ernest Whimpey, who was born 19 May 1884.

19 May 1884 was a Monday.

I used the Calendar in Legacy Family Tree to find the day.

2) To find the historical events on 19 May, I searched Google for Historical events on 19 May, and found the events at http://www.onthisday.com/day/may/19
