Surname Saturday – Isaac

The first ancestor in my tree with this surname was Hannah Isaac.

The ancestral line is:

1 My ex-husband

2 Murray Irwin Willis (1931-1964)
3 Shirley Patricia Casey (1935-2013)

6 Albert George Casey (1901-1965)
7 Lilah Adela Mulder (1903-1987)

13 Caroline Elizabeth Florence Laver (1872-1934)

26 Thomas Laver (1840-1919)
27 Eliza Hooton (1842-1906)

52 George Laver (1819-1885)
53 Elizabeth Male (1818-1897)

106 Robert Male (1791-1869)
107 Hannah Isaac (1791-1870)

Hannah was christened 11 September 1791 at Kingsbury Episcopi, Somerset, England.  She was the daughter of James Isaac and Anchoret Dimmock.

Hannah married Robert Male on 8 July 1816 at Kingsbury Episcopi.  They had 9 children:

  • Job Male (1816-1891)
  • Elizabeth Male (1818-1897)
  • Mary Ann Males (1820-?)
  • George Male (1822-?)
  • Robert Male (1824-1892)
  • Gideon Male (1827-?)
  • Caroline Male (1829-?)
  • Rhoda Male (1831-?)
  • Jane Male (1833-?)

Hannah possibly died in 1870, as there is a death of a Hannah Isaac, age 80, in 1870.

214 James Isaac (1761-1838)
215 Anchoret Dimmock (ca.1760-1815)

James was possibly born in 1761. There is a baptism for the son of John and Sarah Isaac on 28 Jun 1761 – the name of the child is difficult to read, but the name might be James.

James Isaac married Anchoret Dimmock on 25 December 1787 at Kingsbury Episcopi, Somerset. They had the following children, all baptised at Kingsbury Episcopi:

  • Rebecca Isaac, baptised 30 March 1788
  • John Isaac, baptised 6 Sep 1789
  • Hannah Isaac, baptised 11 Sep 1791
  • George Isaac, baptised 25 Dec 1793
  • Ann Isaac, baptised 16 Oct 1796
  • James Isaac, baptised 25 Dec 1798
  • Sarah Isaac, baptised 1 Jun 1802
  • Job Isaac, baptised 2 Oct 1803

James was buried 8 February 1835 at Kingsbury Epsicopi.

I haven’t been able to find a marriage for John Isaac and Sarah, so I haven’t been able to trace this line any further back at this stage
