Sunday Afternoon Genealogy Fun – The Homes I’ve Lived In

Each week on Randy Seaver’s Genea-musings blog he has a post for Saturday night Genealogy fun. Because of the time difference, I have called my series Sunday Afternoon Genealogy Fun. This week’s mission was:

1)  Read Linda Stufflebean’s blog post, “Homes In Which I’ve Lived” on her Empty Branches on the Family Tree blog.

2)  This week, please list the homes in which that you have resided (not just visited) from your birth until the present.

3)  Share your list in your own blog post, in a comment on this post, or on Facebook or Google+.  Please provide a link to your list as a comment to this post.

Here’s mine:

9 Beaufort Street, Mitcham.  This was the house I grew up in. My parents had bought it a few years before I was born.

8 Balcombe Street, Frankston.  In 1981, I stayed for the year with my Aunty Margaret, while I attended Frankston State College.  As far as I know, Aunty Margaret owned the house. After the year, I returned home to Mitcham

Flat 1 12 Madden Grove, Burnley.  I rented this flat for a few months in 1983.  I took over the lease from my sister.  I wanted to buy a car, so I ended up moving back in with mum and dad at Mitcham.

15 Merlin Crescent, Ferntree Gully.  My fiancé and I bought this house in July 1985, and I moved in after our marriage in September 1985.

5 Regent Street, Little River.  We had to sell the house at Ferntree Gully after my husband quit his job, and hadn’t been able to find another.  We stayed in a caravan on his brother’s block of land, while my husband helped his brother build a mud brick house.

Unit 1 12 Moffatt Crescent, Hoppers Crossing.  We moved to this unit after my daughter was born in 1988.  We rented.

17 Phillips Street, Coburg.  This house was owned by my oldest sister, and we rented it from her. I lived there from November 1988 to October 2000 (my husband and I separated in 1992).  In all those years, I never took a photo of the house, although I do have a photo of my daughter standing in front of the house that her school took of her.

30 Laha Crescent, Preston.  We moved to this house in October 2000.  It was also a rental.  When the house was sold, the new owners wanted to live in it themselves, so we had to move

Unit 1 16 Evans Crescent, Reservoir.  We lived here from September 2007 to September 2011.  This was also a rental.  This unit was also sold and the new owner wanted to live in it, so we had to move again.  I had inherited money from my aunt and my dad, who both died in 2009, so I was able to buy a house in the country.

24 Pinnuck Street, Numurkah. I bought this house in September 2011, and we are still living here.

I’ve resided in 10 residences in my life to date.
