Trove Tuesday

Trove Tuesday – George Laver

This week, I am sharing articles I have found for my ex-husband’s 3x great grandfather, George Laver.

The first article I found was an obituary for his daughter.2017-06-20 Mrs Collis obituary

Finding articles for my George was difficult because there were hundreds of articles for George Laver, timber merchant in Kyneton, who died in 1878 at Kyneton.  My George died in 1885 at St Kilda, so I decided it would be easier to just look for articles in the 1880s.

The first article I found was a letter patent granted to George for an improved cooking range.

I couldn’t find his death notice under the name George Laver, so I searched for family notices in 1885, and found him listed as “the beloved husband of Elizabeth Laver”.
