Yesterday, in my 52 Ancestors post, I wrote about my great grandfather Henry Palmer Marr, and the home where the Marr family lived, and where my grandmother grew up, at 58 Lothian Street North Melbourne.
For this week’s Trove Tuesday post, I am sharing articles I found mentioning this address.
The first article was the death notice for Martin Ryan in 1890.
Family Notices (1890, January 13). The Argus (Melbourne, Vic. : 1848 – 1957), p. 1. Retrieved August 1, 2017, from http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article8583416
The next article was the death notice for Martin’s mother Bridget.
Family Notices (1890, March 15). The Argus (Melbourne, Vic. : 1848 – 1957), p. 1. Retrieved August 1, 2017, from http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article8594895
This shows that the Ryan family were living at this address before my great grandparents.
The next article I found was In Memoriam notices for Henry and Mary’s daughter Mary.
Family Notices (1909, November 13). The Age (Melbourne, Vic. : 1854 – 1954), p. 7. Retrieved August 1, 2017, from http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article196041876
Henry Palmer Marr died in 1944. His funeral notice shows that his funeral was held at 58 Lothian Street.
Family Notices (1944, April 11). The Argus (Melbourne, Vic. : 1848 – 1957), p. 2. Retrieved August 1, 2017, from http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article11805811
I found an article I hadn’t found while searching for new records for my mum, or her mother. For some reason, this article doesn’t come up when searching for “Edith Marr” or “Jean Marr”.
