Each week on Randy Seaver’s Genea-musings blog he has a post for Saturday night Genealogy fun. Because of the time difference, I have called my series Sunday Afternoon Genealogy Fun. This week’s mission was:
1) This SNGF is based on the 100 Word Challenge (https://100wc.net/) that school children are participating in around the world. They are given a word or phrase to write a story about in one hundred words.
1) Write a short 100 word story using the phrase “,,,the most interesting ancestor I have…” in 100 words. [Hint: If you write it in a word processor, you can use Tools > Word Count (or similar) to count words]
Ivon Walter Whimpey is the most interesting ancestor I have. Dad was born 21 January 1923, the fourth son of John Ernest Whimpey and Ivy May Harley. Dad’s first job was working for Prestige Lingerie. He later became a boilermaker, and one job was making the boilers for Puffing Billy. Dad served in World War 2, spending most of his time at Alice Springs. Dad’s first wife died when she was pregnant with their third child. His first two children were girls, and mum and dad had another 6 girls. Dad died on 16 December 2009 at the Wonthaggi Hospital.
