My Heritage Free Access to US Newspapers for the 4th of July

My Heritage has announced free access to their US Newspaper collections from 3 July to 8 July.  For more details read here.

I have only come across one record collection at MyHeritage that has records for my family that I haven’t been able to find elsewhere, and that was the Rhode Island Newspapers.  I didn’t want to sign up for a subscription just to access the handful of articles I have found, so the news that MyHeritage was granting free access to their US Newspaper collections from 3 July to 8 July was just what I needed.

I have one branch of the family that lived in Rhode Island.  My 3x great grandfather, William Whimpey, had a brother Edward.  Edward had a son John Partridge Whimpey.  I don’t know what happened to John, but his wife Charlotte Herbert, and their children, Ellen, Emily, Kate and Minnie, migrated to the United States and settled in Rhode Island.

I have now been able to add a few more newspaper articles to build a more complete picture of this family.
