Sunday Afternoon Genealogy Fun – Your Zigzag ancestor lines

Each week on Randy Seaver’s Genea-musings blog he has a post for Saturday night Genealogy fun. Because of the time difference, I have called my series Sunday Afternoon Genealogy Fun. This week the mission was:

 1)  What is your father’s Zigzag Ancestor line (NOTE: I just made that up…}?  In other words, your father’s mother’s father’s mother’s etc. line back as far as you can go.

2)  Tell us in your own blog post (and drop a link here in a comment), or on Facebook with your response.

My zigzag line through my father is:

1 My father was Ivon Walter Whimpey (1923-2009). He was born in Heidelberg, Victoria, Australia, and died at Wonthaggi.

2 His mother, Ivy May Harley (1890-1959) was born at South Melbourne and died at Heidelberg.

3 Her father, Alexander Alexander Harley (1866-1939) was born at Rochford and died at Woolamai.

4 His mother, Euphemia Dandie (1824-1902) was born in Ferry Port on Craig, Fife, Scotland and died at Albert Park.

5 Her father, John Dandie (1800-1841) was born at Kilmany, Fife, Scotland and died at Ferry Port on Craig

6 His mother, Janet Donaldson (1771-1860) was born at Leuchars, Fife, Scotland and died at Scotscraig, Fife, Scotland.

7 Her father was Robert Donaldson. Robert married Margaret Simpson on 4 Nov 1768 in Leuchars, Fife, Scotland.  I haven’t been able to trace back further than Robert at this stage, as there are a few possible baptism records for him.

My father’s zigzag goes back 7 generations

My zigzag line through my mother is:

1 My mother was Edith Jean Marr (1922-1990). She was born at Somerville, and died at Wonthaggi

2 Her father was Wilfred Palmer Marr (1892-1955). He was born at Myrtleford, and died at Parkville.

3 His mother was Mary Reeves (1864-1951). She was born at Amherst, and died at North Melbourne.

4 Her father was William John Reeves (1828-1888). He was born at East Stonehouse (Plymouth), Devon, England, and died at Narrigal, Victoria, Australia.

5 His mother was Maria Crook (1807-1870), born at Dodbrooke, Devon, and lived in East Stonehouse, Devonshire, England and Shepton Mallet, Somerset, England.

6 Her father was Robert Crook. Robert was possibly baptised 2 May 1765 in Cruwys-Morchard, Devon, the son of Robert Crook and Sarah.  There is a possible death entry for Robin Crook in 1835 at Dodbrooke, Devon, birth year about 1760.  I am not certain these entries are for my Robert, so that’s as far back as I have gone on this line.

My mother’s zigzag goes back 6 generations.
